Consider thy Neighbour

There are those who proffer that the owner of property is the sole and only arbiter of that property. They want us to believe that supporting the cause of ‘Wetlands’ is not in the best interest of property owners.

We're not talking about the phony and fraudulent wetlands imagined by grasping empire building conservation authorities used to extort great gobs of money from individual property owners.

Case in point is the last and only ‘Slough Forest’ located in the City of Niagara Falls, Ontario.

Those stating that the owners of property have the right to destroy a wetland especially of the magnitude of a ‘Sough Forest’ are also the same people saying “As long as the action of the property owner does no harm to the neighbour!”

Considering the stated scientific value of a ‘Slough Forest’ to the health and welfare of mankind then it must follow that the destruction of a ‘Slough Forest’ is definitely harming the neighbour and in fact is harming neighbours much farther afield!

Just because you own a piece of property does not necessarily follow that you fully control all of mankind's resources on your property!

To deny your neighbour the benefit of a 'Slough Forest' is akin to diverting a stream away from that neighbour!

In this case it is somewhat possible to understand that a money hungry and corrupt municipal government would lie, cheat and steal to have it's way, but it is unconscionable to have our Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority actively involved in the destruction of a ‘Slough Forest’.

It also puts a lie to the other so-called guardians of our environment and resources for allowing this travesty to happen.
