Decline of the west

Why would any government decide to destroy the Canadian economy just to satisfy China, India, etc., based on climate change? Remember Carbon doesn't understand borders...

According to the Parliamentary Budget Officer, Yves Giroux, if the economy grows the price on carbon must go up. If the economy tanks then people don't have the income to travel therefore the carbon tax (and it is a tax no matter what government states) is merely a means to undermine the Canadian economy. This only supports foreign interests and foreign economies.

There is also the issue that this is obviously a tax on rural Canada. The PBO speaks of public transit and how an investment in that means of transportation would decrease the amount of carbon, but at what cost to those who do not have the public transit option? Rural Canada doesn't have that option nor does it have the option of smaller vehicles as rural vehicles are used to travel safely in winter and in most cases are used for work purposes.

In some provinces the price of electricity will go through the roof as it has in Ontario. Ontario is still (and will) continue to pay for horrific electricity pricing because of failed renewable energy production and extremely questionable contracts with foreign entities. Again, more of the failed philosophy and failed planning by governments.

And yet what does these purported plans of carbon taxes and renewable energy costs include - the destruction of the economy. If one must pay an additional 23 cents a litre for fuel or to heat their home; if one must pay, as the people of Ontario are, for renewable energy including the cost to people's health regarding the wind turbines, doesn't that completely do what the government wants - ruin the economy.

One might be of the thought that it is Canadians and Canada's position on the world stage that will be in shambles unless all other countries are placed on the same playing field, wouldn't one?

So why would any government decide to destroy the Canadian economy just to satisfy China, India, etc., based on climate change? Remember Carbon doesn't understand borders...
